Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Pat the red snapper dry with paper towels. Using a sharp knife, make 2-3 shallow scores diagonally on each side of the fish. This helps the flavors penetrate and ensures even cooking.
- In a small bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, chopped fresh parsley, dried oregano, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Mix well to create a fragrant herb rub.
- Rub the herb mixture generously all over the red snapper, making sure to get some into the scores and the cavity of the fish. Place a few lemon slices inside the cavity and arrange the remaining slices on top of the fish.
- Place the prepared fish on the lined baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the fish is flaky and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 145°F (63°C) at its thickest part.
- Carefully transfer the baked red snapper to a serving platter. Serve immediately with your favorite side dishes, such as roasted vegetables or a fresh salad.
Notes
For an extra touch of moisture and flavor, you can pour 1/4 cup of dry white wine or vegetable broth into the baking sheet before cooking.
