Ingredients

Pie Filling
  • 1 count pie crust (9-inch) store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges as desired. Chill until ready to fill.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, melted butter, salt, eggs, flour, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  4. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust. Cover the edges of the pie crust with foil or a pie crust shield to prevent over-browning. Bake for 10 minutes at 400°F (200°C).
  5. Reduce the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 30-40 minutes, or until the center is only slightly jiggly and the edges are set. Cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Notes

Pecan pie tastes best when served at room temperature. For an extra treat, serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
