  • 10 oz maraschino cherries with stems
  • 2.25 cups powdered sugar sifted
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter softened
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 0.5 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 0.25 teaspoon almond extract
  • 12 oz chocolate almond bark broken into smaller chunks

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Add sifted powdered sugar, softened butter, light corn syrup, vanilla extract, and almond extract to a medium mixing bowl. Stir with a large spoon or use clean hands until the mixture is cohesive and pliable.
  2. Knead the mixture until it feels and behaves like play dough. Cover and set aside.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a teaspoon or small scoop, portion out the dough and flatten into a circle. Wrap each around a cherry, smoothing and shaping as needed. Place on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Heat the chocolate almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl for 1 minute. Stir until smooth, reheating in 30-second intervals if necessary.
  5. Holding a cherry by the stem, dip into melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off. Place on parchment-lined sheet. Repeat with remaining cherries.
  6. Optional: drizzle leftover chocolate over the dipped cherries for decoration. Allow chocolates to set at room temperature or refrigerate.
