  • 1 cup chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper, ground

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Sauté the chopped onion, celery, and carrots in a large pot until tender, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and add the bay leaf. Bring to a boil.
  4. Stir in the cooked ham and beans. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes to meld flavors.
  5. Remove bay leaf, season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve hot.
