  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.5 cup all-natural peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.01 teaspoon pinch salt
  • 2 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 0.01 teaspoon flaky sea salt

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add maple syrup, egg, peanut butter, and vanilla; combine well.
  3. Add salt, oats, cocoa powder, and baking soda; mix until blended. Fold in chocolate chunks.
  4. Refrigerate the dough for 15 minutes to set.
  5. Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough, shape into balls, and place on the prepared baking sheet. Slightly press down to flatten.
  6. Repeat until the baking sheet is filled with 12 cookies. Add additional chocolate chunks on top if desired.
  7. Bake for 12 minutes until edges are set and slightly crackled on top.
  8. Remove from oven and cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Sprinkle with sea salt before serving.
