  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon orange zest
  • 4 ounces cream cheese cut into cubes
  • 0.33 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for brushing)
  • 1.5 pounds fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 0.33 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 0.5 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and orange zest in a large bowl. Add cream cheese and mash until coarse crumbs form.
  3. Stir in 1/3 cup of milk and form a dough.
  4. Divide dough into 8 balls and place on a greased baking sheet.
  5. Flatten balls to 1/2 inch thickness, brush with milk, sprinkle with sugar.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool on wire rack.
  7. Mash 1/3 of sliced strawberries. Add remaining strawberries and sugar. Let sit for 20 minutes.
  8. Whip heavy cream with vanilla and sugar until stiff peaks form.
  9. Cut biscuits in half, assemble with strawberries and whipped cream. Serve immediately.
